Why do I crop to a 5x7 for my digitals?

The simple answer is that 5x7s are the post popular size. 

The longer answer is that I shoot with a full frame camera that captures an aspect ratio of 2x3.  A 5x7 cuts a little of the top and bottom and and 8x10 which is the aspect ration of 4x5 crops off even more!  

As you know, I take very good care of my clients!  If you have purchased digitals and want to have one of them printed larger than a 5x7, just ask and I will take the amount you paid for your digital from the price of the larger print and we can discuss the perfect size for the specific image.  I can send samples of the different crops and we can decide the perfect size for your wall and make sure that it is cropped perfectly.

2x3

This is the aspect ratio that I capture with my full frame camera.

5x7

This is the most popular size for gift prints. A 5x7 crop cuts a little off the short side of the original image but is usually fine and doesn't cut off important aspects of the portrait.

8x10

This aspect ratio is 4x5 which is almost a square. It crops much more off of the original image Some images can be cropped this harshly without losing important aspects of the portrait while others cannot.
